(December 20, 2016) December 21, in the northern hemisphere, is the shortest day of the year and, as such, the day when short films are celebrated. The Short Film Day is an initiative, born in France in 2011 by the Centre National de la Cinématographie et de l’Image Animée, which has spread rapidly throughout Europe and today has spread throguh more than fifty countries worldwide. The idea is to offer a window on the world of short films to the general public, making for a day a short film the star. At the Short Film Day 2016, the National Short Film Centre has developed a program of contemporary Italian films that will be screened in 5 Italian cities and, thanks to the network of Italian Institutes of Culture, in 13 cities around the world, from Lisbon to Shanghai, from Sao Paulo to Addis Ababa. In the Portuguese capital, the Italian Cultural Institute will host from 11 to 17.30 the projections of the following shorts: “Bellissima”, by Alessandro Capitani (pictured); “Ossa” by Dario Imbrogno; “Good News” of Giovanni Fumu; “Pandemonio” by Valerio Spinelli; “Quasi Eroi” by Giovanni Piperno; “Bagni” by Laura Luchetti; “Lutra” David Merello; “Il Miracolo” (by Fabio Mollo, Serena Aragona, Honglei Bao, Fabrizio Benvenuto, Luca Cenname, Michele Leonardi, Alberto Mangiapane, Domenico Modafferi, Alain Parroni, Mariagiovanna Postorino, Mario Vitale).
