(January 16, 2017) With the aim of supporting the new made in Italy in Spain, the Italian Embassy in Madrid launches “ITmakES”: a set of projects developed in collaboration with all the Italian institutions of the Italian system in Spain, born from the observation of the creative influences that have sprung up between designers, makers, and Italian and Spanish startuppers, and with the input and experience of the Italian business presence in Spain. First action and keyword tool of the initiative is “ITmakES”, a dynamic digital platform that contains the first and upcoming projects, serving as a reference for their launch, development and visibility. It will be a place of knowledge, virtual meeting, creation of change and innovation, which will allow different users to interact, gather information, carry out projects of common interest and will introduce new dynamics between Italy and Spain. Given its transversal nature, design has been identified as the starting point of this new approach and more projects linked together are being developed. Among them “Vivace. Italian design in Madrid and Barcelona”: paths open to public participation, through urban spaces and neighborhoods in Madrid and Barcelona, to the 2017 Salone del Mobile in Milan; “I do not know!” Maker culture course for teachers and students of Italian schools in Madrid and Barcelona and work expericens in the Fab Lab of the two cities. Finally, “The Fab Linkage”: business meeting in Madrid between Italian and Spanish fab labs, toward the 2017 Rome Maker Faire. All initiatives must be seen as part of an integrated strategy for the promotion of Italy abroad “Vivere ALL’Italian”, launched by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (conceived and developed with the Ministry of heritage and cultural Activities and Tourism, the Ministry of Education, with the Dante Alighieri Society and Rai.
