(26 January 2017) The Italian Cultural Institute of Prague is featuring Pavel Konečny’s photography exhibition “Il mondo degli outsider” (An outsider’s world) until February 28. The exhibition of the Czech Art Brut collector focuses on 10 marginal Italian artists and their works documented during various trips to Italy from 2011 and 2015. “An outsider’s world” comprises of a figurative path through gardens, courtyards, habitations, creative spaces, that perfectly reflect the tormented lives of these artists; their memories, fantasies, dreams and aspirations. Everything is expressed through a specific number of pieces, works often described as architectural, sculptural, or pictorial but with a certain degree of pathos and poetry. Konečny’s photographs, in addition to bringing an iconographic message on the existence of hidden places in Italy to Bohemia, also document the uniqueness and originality of these artists’ works who bring the general public’s attention to a specific area of human creation in danger of being forgotten or disappearing forever.
