June 20 – It’s clear that cinema is one of the greatest passions at the Italian Cultural Institute in Montreal: the second festival of contemporary Italian cinema has just come to an end, but tomorrow marks the beginning of the retrospective dedicated to Paolo Virzì. The event will be held at the Cinematheque Quebecoise until June 29. “Writer, director and producer – said the ICI – Virzì is one of the most important filmmakers of Italian cinema. Considered the heir of traditional Italian comedy, his films deal with thorny issues in a compelling, humorous and human style.” The Livorno-native director recently triumphed at the David di Donatello with his latest film “Il Capitale Umano.” And the ICI in Montreal will screen his greatest hits – from “Ovosodo” to “Caterina va in città” – in Italian with French subtitles.
