Aug. 26 – A new important assignment for Simone Santi, the international volleyball referee from Città di Castello. Santi was designated as referee for the next men’s volleyball World Cup, scheduled for August 30-September 21 in Poland. “This designation – commented the president of the Province of Perugia, Marco Vinicio Guasticchi – makes us proud not only for the important recognition that it is for our volleyball community, but also in terms of our regional system, which has always supported Santi, following his distinguished career and celebrating his prizes and special mentions. This is why, in 2012 we proudly nominated him as our representative at the Olympic Games in London. And today, we welcome this new assignment that rewards a great referee and a great sportsman, whose enthusiasm never wavered as he directed a world cup final in 2010, 8 Olympic games and many other international cups. His enthusiasm and professional expertise is what brought him to the attention of the World Cup managers, definitely consecrated Santi’s prestigious career.”
