May 27 – Italian extra virgin olive oil is characterized by a large variety of flavors, from the delicate textures of the hills in northern Italy to the more rugged terrain of the south. The colors, fragrances, nutritional and culinary applications of one of the excellence products of Made in Italy are the focus of a special tasting promoted by the Italian Institute of Culture Carlo Maurilio Lerici in Stockholm. The event, scheduled for Friday, May 29 at 6pm, will feature numerous Italian manufacturers. In Stockholm the public will be given the opportunity to learn the virtues of Italian olive oil, and embark upon a real journey in the tradition of Made in Italy. The production of olive oil is, in fact, one of the oldest agricultural practices rooted in Italy, as well as a major force for trade and cultural exchange in the Mediterranean. Today, this tradition is being renewed and olive oil has become a luxury product for gourmet experts. During the evening, the producers will highlight the main features and curiosities from their “world,” explaining the criteria for the selection and harvesting of olives, the ideal conditions of the land, as it keeps the oil. Of course the public will have the opportunity to appreciate the products in their purest form, or together with select foods. The tasting will be accompanied by a glass of red wine, all strictly made in Italy. (Gil)
