August 26, 2015 – How can Italy reveal the peculiarities of regional wines to Chinese consumers (who consume in a year almost seven million hectoliters of wine products)? The answer is in part with an educational week organized by the Friuli Venezia Giulia, aimed at a group of sommeliers and wine experts from China, who will learn about the wealth of wine, cultural, scenic and tourist territory there is in the region. The meeting is also useful for the region to “receive confirmation on the strengths and critical issues in relation to the expansion of wine exports from Friuli Venezia Giulia to the Chinese market”, said the commissioner for agriculture and forestry resources, Cristiano Shaurli. “It is now necessary – concluded Shaurli – that the regional vineyard be able to count on the potential of a cohesive system, with a single regional PDO that can be presented as a compact and strong reality in foreign markets, aiming to become a reference among national white wines, and abroad to aim for a high target of supply, based more on quality rather than quantity.”
