2 September, 2015 – Sardinia’s polyphonic singing – along with those of Corsica – takes the stage in the Czech Republic, thanks to the Italian Institute of Culture in Prague which is promotes a concert by the Mediterranean polyphony group “Cuncordu and Tenore de Orosei.” On Tuesday, September 15 (at 8pm), the polyphonic songs will resound in the the Prague Hlahol (Masarykovo nábřeží 16).. The choir, born in the Sardinian town of Orosei some forty years ago, has a dual specialization: traditional sacred song (called “a cuncordu”) and the profane (called “a tenore”). This is not the first time it performs abroad: among the many stages so far traveled, there is the Festival de Musique Sacrée in Paris and the main events in Europe on traditional songs: Angouleme, Rennes, Briancon, Toulouse, Marseille, Aix en Provence, Tarbes, Rouen, Tours, Solesmes, Nantes, Munich, Frankfurt, Turin, Venice, Florence, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Antwerp. The Sardinian group includes Martino Corimbi, cronta and historic leader of the group; Giovanni Rosu, voche; Franco Sannai, bassu; and Paolo Burrai, mesuvoche. The four participated in many meetings and concerts, receiving positive acclaim from critics and the public. Cuncordu and Tenore de Orosei is now one of the most interesting groups in the genre. And the concert in Prague, organized by the agency Rachot Production, will be a chance to prove it to the Czech public. (Gil)
