December 10th, 2015 – Adrion is a new European Transnational Territorial Cooperation program involving four EU member states (Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, and Greece) and four countries in pre-accession phase (Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina), for which the Emilia-Romagna Region acts as managing authority. The launch took place yesterday in Bologna, with the opening speech of the President of the Region Stefano Bonaccini and with the participation of representatives of all involved countries. The session was closed by the Regional Councilor for the Coordination of European Policies Patrizio Bianchi, the Minister for Integration of Albania Klajda Gjosha and Undersecretary for European Affairs Sandro Gozi. The Adriatic-Ionic Adrion Program, approved by the European Commission on 20 October, has the primary objective to support the European strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian region (Eusair), to encourage integration between partner states, relying on natural, cultural and human resources existing in the areas of the Adriatic and the Ionian Sea and enhancing economic, social and territorial cohesion. “We took a step forward to define the operational tools of Adrion – said President Bonaccini – The Adriatic-Ionian macro-region can offer a great opportunity for growth and development, strategic for Europe, also from a geographical point of view. Tourism, the sea economy, infrastructure and environment are our priorities. The Emilia-Romagna region has a major role, because we want to take every opportunity that the European Union makes available to these territories.” (Red)
