(2016 July 19th) Only 13 degrees and cloudy skies: typical weather conditions for a Melbourne winter, much different from those of a Turin summer, but nonetheless ideal for a hard training session. After the long trip and a few hours of sleep, Juventus have made contact with the ground at Lakeside Stadium, the facility that will house these training days. Before the session, the Italian consul in Australia, Marco Maria Cerbo, and John Eren, Minister of Sport and Tourism of the State of Victoria welcomed the Bianconeri. The Bianconeri will play two matches in Melbourne, Saturday against the local Melbourne Victory and three days later against Tottenham; both matches are valid for the International Champions Cup. Third and final leg of the overseas tour will be the challenge against South China, scheduled for July 30 in Hong Kong. “We are delighted to have Juventus, one of the most successful teams in Europe, here – said Eren – The International Champions Cup will be broadcast in 150 countries and we are proud to host some of the matches here in Melbourne. It will give prestige to our city”. Handshakes, photos with Scudetto trophy and Italian Cup, jersey donated by Allegri to John Eren and then off to work on the field, to take the first steps of a very challenging season. (Red)
