Cairo. ENI has revised the potential of the Baltim South West oilfield, which is now estimated to contain more than 28 billion cubic meters of gas. The review takes place following the results of the drilling of delineation Baltim South West 2X, performed immediately after the discovery of Baltim South West 1X. The oilfield is located in 25 metres in depth in territorial waters of the Nile Delta, 12 kilometers from the coast of Egypt and just 10 km from the Nooros oilfield, discovered in July, 2015. The Baltim South West 2X crosses through a 102m column of mineralised gas, including 86 net metres, in two sandstone levels dating from the Messinian age with excellent petro-physical properties. With this new well the potential of the so-called “Great Nooros” escalates to 86 billion cubic meters of gas. (9Colonne)
