(October 11, 2016) The distribution of Italian wines in China makes a quantum leap and invests on e-commerce. Thanks to the agreement signed between Gruppo Italiano Vini (GIV) and Tmall.com and Wangjiu.com platforms of the Alibaba Group, the wines of 15 historic Italian wineries will be available to the Chinese public also through dedicated flagship on line stores. The agreement between the GIV and the leading e-commerce virtual stores in China, signed at the residence of the Italian Ambassador Ettore Sequi, will make it easier and more immediate the distribution of Italian wines on the promising Chinese market. “The promotion of Italian agribusiness on platforms such as those provided by Alibaba, which counts nearly 450 million users, is an essential component of a modern distribution strategy, which wants to take into account the exponential growth trend that online trade is recording in China”, said the Ambassador Sequi introducing the signing of the agreement. “Italy is currently the leading wine producer in the world – has continued the Ambassador – but it is also and above all a high quality manufacturer. The goal of all of us is to promote the dissemination of Italian products responding to the growing demand for made in Italy by Chinese consumers, especially in the wine industry, with the necessary attention to the authenticity of the product and the guarantees of reliability to consumers “. With a turnover of 350 million euro, GIV is the first Italian winery and among the first companies in the world in the production and marketing of quality wines. The Group owns 15 historic cellars, including Melini, Rapitala ‘and Bolla, and is present in 85 countries. (Red)
