Tokyo – Twenty minutes of applause, an audience which won’t leave the room and recalls the artists on stage, an ovation for Angela Gheorghiu, the protagonist of the opera. Palermo’s Teatro Massimo doubles its success in Tokyo with Tosca at the Bunka Kaikan Theater (performance started at 3pm, 8am in Italy). Like yesterday for La Traviata, the theater went sold out again, and again a long queue of enthusiasts waiting for the autograph by the artists sitting in the foyer. As Cavaradossi, Sicilian tenor Marcello Giordani, much praised. Behind the scenes, just as the curtain closed, a long hug and a kiss with Gheorghiu. “You were great,” she told him. “Singing with you was the dream of my life,” he replied. On stage the Choir of White Voices composed of Japanese children. “They were extraordinary,” says the director of the Choir, Pietro Monti, “they really committed, surpassing the initial difficulty in pronouncing the vowel u.” (9colonne)
