Jan. 21 – In Mali, a former French colony in West Africa, the political situation has long been compromised, and it plummeted in recent weeks, with the escalation of violence between the central government and a number of forces led by jihadi movements and Al Qaeda, as well as the Touareg part of the country, who claimed the independence of the North. In this scenario, France has decided to along with other countries, including, indirectly, Italy. In fact, Mali is currently hosting a Trentino international solidarity project, in Yassing. The school project has become, in recent days, a refugee reception center for people fleeing from more violent areas. Mali also hosts the head doctor of renal unit at the Santa Chiara Trento, Giuliano Brunori, who has been supporting projects in collaboration with the local health ministry. Finally, in 2012, the Autonomous Province of Trento, via the Department of International Solidarity, supported the Mali Djiguiya project, whose president is Massitan Kanté, a Malian immigrant resident in Trentino. The project included the renovation of the electric refueling system and solar panels in the village of Sanakoroba.
