June 20 – Expo 2015 is a topic of discussion around the world, a positive one. The Chamber of Commerce of Milan carried out between November 2013 and May 2014 an analysis via comments on the Internet and Voices from the Blogs, a spin-off of the University of Milan. Their study shows that the debate on Expo2015 has grown strongly, from .2000 comments in December 2013 to 12.000 in May 2014. Comments are positive and optimistic 75.9% of the time; the most critical ones come from Europe and the United States, but they do not exceed 27-28%. Overall, there is a positive vibe surrounding Expo2015. The lowest points in terms of positive comments were recorded in February, when Turkey announced it would not participate (58.3%) and early May (66.9%) when the official investigation was opened. There was a positive peak in May when Prime Minister Matteo Renzi promoted the event abroad. In terms of macro-areas, the most positive countries are the BRICS (83.3%), more optimistic than North America (74.6%) and the EU countries (72.6%). However, the U.S., accounts for more than half the comments posted on the Web (Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Forums, News, etc.) between November 2013 and May 2014. Europe comes in second, accounting for 26.8% of mentions thanks to Britain, the Netherlands, Greece, Spain, Germany and France. 10th place goes to Mexico, overtaking China, which ranks 11th. Brazil is 12th, Russia 14th, and Japan on the 16th. In terms of cities, New York is definitely the chattiest, followed by Dubai (which will host Expo2020), Los Angeles, Brussels, San Francisco, Madrid, Barcelona and Jakarta. (Red)
