Nov. 28 – Sicily and China are now cooperating in the academic field, with study and cultural exchanges in an agreement on student and teacher mobility between the University of Palermo and the Sichuan International Studies University (Sisu) in Chongqing, south-central China. The agreement involves the Palermo School of Italian Language for Foreigners and the Sisu Italian Department. The Italian Consul General in Chongqing, Sergio Maffettone, in a letter to the director of the School Maria D’Agostino emphasized “the extraordinary enthusiasm that you transfer to the young Chinese who come study with you. This pool of young Italian-speaking Chinese represents an extraordinary resource for our country.” Maffettone commented at the end of a very intense period of activity and international collaboration between Palermo and Chongqing. Meanwhile the new call for applications for student mobility in Palermo will soon be released: students will spend a semester at the University Sisu, with the possibility of winning 10 scholarships of €800 and the ability to get their expenses reimbursed.
